PCP

The Primary Capital Programme (PCP), in partnership with local authorities (LAs), aims to develop and implement a strategic and transformational programme to deliver 21st century schools at the heart of their communities by rebuilding or improving at least half of all primary schools over 15 years.  Plans for the Primary Capital Programme were first announced by the then Chancellor in his 2005 Budget Statement. The programme commits to renewing at least half of all primary school buildings by 2022-23.

There is £1.9 billion being invested in the period 2008-11 with £150 million in 2008-09 for 23 pathfinders. This will rise to £500 million for all local authorities in 2009-10 and £1.1 billion in 2010-11. Baselines will remain at £500 million a year thereafter subject to future public spending decisions.
