SMART adds country-specific support to its online education community

January 12, 2009 --- SMART Technologies announces it is adding country-specific support for four countries to the SMART Exchange online community for educators. Members in the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain and France will be able to participate in forums, connect with colleagues, upload and share lessons, and contact SMART technical and product staff in their own language. The German SMART Exchange was launched November 27, 2008. French will be available in February 2009, with Spain and the UK following soon after. The French version will cater to people from many different French-speaking countries. SMART plans to continue to expand its country-specific support in 2010.

The SMART Exchange was launched in December 2007. It has quickly become a popular online community, attracting approximately 38,000 active members to date and currently growing at a rate of more than 5,000 members per month. SMART Exchange members register of their own accord and are not automatically subscribed with the purchase of a product or as a requirement to receive product warranties. In addition to a well-populated forum, members have access to galleries and a separate area to upload and download files. By offering country-specific content and support for additional languages, SMART reinforces its dedication to serving educators around the world. The company encourages ongoing input and feedback from SMART Exchange members and responds to a wide variety of questions. Educators can join the online community for free by visiting the SMART Exchange at exchange.smarttech.com.

“As adoption of educational technology products continues to accelerate, online communities become a critical component of connecting educators so they can share ideas and learn effective practices from each other,” says Nancy Knowlton, SMART’s CEO. “The SMART Exchange adds to SMART’s education solution by helping more teachers connect with each other and SMART, in more countries and languages around the world.”
